PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ SOME BASIC POLICIES REGARDING SHOWS...
BOOKING AGENTS PLEASE CLICK HERE AS WELL

Traditional presskits and demos are not necessary... links to your websites are.

Checking our schedule first will probably make this process go that much quicker.

We generally wont commit to a show more than a month out.

Thursday shows end around 10 for Booty Night. Monday shows end around 11 for World-Famous 80's & Indie Dance Night. There are no exceptions. Sunday shows typically end around 10 for Karaoke & Beer Pong, although exceptions for all-night shows are made.

Please do not contact otherbands in an effort to book them at the bar. We book all bands directly.

Once a show is confirmed, it is highly recommended you take whatever means necessary to not cancel for any reason. There are some bands that simply don't have van troubles, have members quit last minute, get food poisoning, etc. Be one of those bands.

All bands are expected to arrive at load-in on time. Do not be late! There are bands that no matter how much they drank at the show the night before, always arrive on time without a story as to why they were late. Be one of those bands.

Bands that cancel a show may find it difficult to get booked here again. Bands that are late may find themselves bumped from the bill. We also share this information with other venues, as they share such details with us.

Often we ask bands (especially those on tour together) to share guitar cabinets. Please be prepared to cooperate.

We also have a house bass cabinet (ampeg 4x10) we suggest you take advantage of. When direct injected into the PA as well, this is more than enough low end for this size room.

Inform us of all your needs at load-in (direct boxes, vocal mics, etc). Last minute requests may not be honored.

Optimum sound at the bar requires a stage volume in the range of 112-115 db. Once your levels are set during line check, please do not change them unless asked to.

Please tune silently using a tuner. If you dont have one, we do.

Please only ask for vocal mics that are integral to your sound... on a small stage, unused vocal mics are basically overhead drum mics and will result in a bad mix to the audience.

If using our mics, cables and stands, we expect you to treat them with care. Bands are responsible for what they damage.

Do not play another show in Tallahassee 10 days before or 10 days after a show booked at the bar.

Local bands are expected to bring out an absolute minimum of a dozen people for any show regardless of night of week or time slot. This is easily achieved with minimal effort. 25-50 is considered a solid draw, 50-75 strong, 75-100+ exceptional.

Touring bands are expected to make an effort (via myspace, etc) to promote their show as well. A little effort may bring out a handful of people and you will be rewarded for it.

If you are a relatively unknown band on the road, asking for a guarantee is not a good idea. If you cannot guarantee people are coming to see you, we cannot guarantee what you are getting paid. We poll at the doors... if you bring people out you will be rewarded for it. If not, you may receive a nominal amount of gas money and some beers. Nominal gas money = enough to get you to where your next show should be ($20 will get you to jacksonville, pensacola, etc)

If you dont have a draw here, please consider yourself fortunate that you have the opportunity to play your original music to fans of other bands and the bar. Hopefully you will sell some merchandize to subsidize your tour and begin to develop a market here for your next visit.

There are many variables that factor in how a local band gets paid. Your specific draw that night, your history (or lack of) at the bar, bar sales, other bands on the bill, etc. We will make every effort to generous and do the right thing. If you make us money, we will make you money. But there is no free ride... if dont carry your own weight you will not benefit financially from the work of other bands or the bar, although you probably will benefit in exposure to new fans.

Stage times are approximate and subject to change. The order posted on websites and flyers may or may not be the order of the lineup of your show. Set lengths are also subject to change. If bands did not live up to their expectations in bringing people out, it is very likely we will do everything we can (play popular music, reduce or remove cover) to bring people in the bar. This may result in you playing later and for less time.

SOUND & LIGHTS:

We run our own sound and lights exclusively... if you are bringing a sound guy with you, it is likely he will have the night off. If you are going to insist he assist run sound, please make sure you have packed the bar first. If you are going to be a pain in the ass, please at least be worth it.

We have a 3 way system with over 10,000 watts of power, 2 inch horns, 16 channel snake & 24 channel board.

We have shure beta 87, 58, 57 and sennheiser 855, 835 mics for vocals and instruments, and full mics for drums including two kick mics. We have about 10 D.I. Boxes and the board has phantom power.

All drum mics are gated. All vocals compressed. Two separate effect units are utilized - typically delay and reverb.

3 individually eq'd monitors are on stage with a separate mix for the drummer.

Dozens of pin spots, big and small cans, intelligent lighting, strobe, fog, bubbles and snow are used.

AMENITIES:

We have a wireless broadband network at the bar.

We usually record your set in mp3 format and upload it at liveatbigdaddys.com later that night for you to download.

Your set may be broadcasted in a closed-circuit system on the tvs at the bar.

We often videotape or photograph shows and post at drinkfreebeer.com and liveatbigdaddys.com

There are several places to eat within walking distance (including vegan) and there is a nice but inexpensive ($60) hotel right across the street.
